Bequests
As Morning Star Boys' Ranch looks forward to a future of continuing compassionate service, we are asking friends to consider establishing a lasting legacy of care. Suggestions include the following:

Bequests

A bequest is a gift through a will. The gift is made after your death from the property you owned.

Revocable Living Trust

Some people use revocable living trusts in their estate planning. Like a will, a revocable trust can be revoked (changed or canceled). The major benefits of a revocable trust include:

  • Reduced probate costs;
  • Transfer of property to loved ones without delays;

  • Identifying the person or persons who will manage your financial affairs in the event you no longer choose to do so or become incapacitated and cannot do so.

    Gifts of Life Insurance

    A gift of life insurance is one way you can make a major contribution to Morning Star Boys' Ranch at a relatively low cost.

    Charitable Gift Annuity

    A charitable gift annunity is a legal contract between you and Morning Star Boys' Ranch whereby we agree to pay you a specific dollar income for your life and/or for the life of your designated beneficiary. The property you contribute through a charitable gift annuity is part gift and part purchase of an annuity. Part of the income you receive is a tax-free return of principal.

    Charitable Remainder Unitrust

    This trust provides variable income. You or your beneficiary receive a percentage of the fair market value of the trust assets as revalued each year. The percentage is fixed at the time the trust is established; by law, the lowest fixed percentage you can select is 5%. IRS regulations permit you to add property into the unitrust at any time.

    Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust

    This trust provides fixed income. You or your beneficiary receive a fixed dollar amount each year. By law the dollar amount cannot be less than 5% of the fair market value of the assets at the time you establish the trust. IRS regulations prohibit adding any additional property into the annuity trust at any time; you may create additional annuity trusts if you desire.

    Gift of Real Estate

    Contributing real estate which is reasonably expected to be easily sold or an interest in such property to Morning Star Boys' Ranch, whether a personal residence, family farm, vacation home, condominium, cooperative apartment, business property or speculative acreage, can be highly advantageous to you.

    Professional Counsel

    Morning Star Boys' Ranch always encourages prospective donors to seek the advice of professional counsel concerning the best giving option for them. We would welcome the opportunity to provide you or your attorney with additional information on any of the methods of giving described above.

    Saying "Thank You"

    Sometimes people include a bequest to Morning Star Boys' Ranch, and we learn about it only after their death. We are so grateful to them, for they have helped to assure a brighter future for many. We would have enjoyed expressing our gratitude while they were living. For us it is important to say "thank you" and, when possible, to do so in person.

    If you decide to include Morning Star Boys' Ranch in your planning, please let us know. We want to say "thank you" and to thank God for you.
